spunky Hahn's Macaw, Globo, on 4/3/05

This is our pet Blue & Gold Macaw, Mayo, on 3/15/05. He has been eating strawberries and blackberries today. He eats lots of dark green, orange, and red vegetables, sprouted seeds, and fruits. He eats a 35cc syringe of our home-made hand-feeding formula (with Spirulina blue-green alga powder as an ingredient) every evening. I give this formula to him because he loves it and because his health has been better since we began feeding this to him on a regular basis a few years back. One of his favorite treats is a raw jalapeno pepper. He also loves baked beans, cooked oatmeal, almonds and pistachio nuts, and an occasional bite of cheese and whole wheat cracker. This is a bird who enjoys eating real foods and his feathering and great health reflect his diet! We have had Mayo since he was a baby in 1978.

Rose-Breasted Cockatoo, Raffles.
He loves to chew honeysuckle vines.

We have had our parvipes Yellow-Naped Amazon, Little Lorita, for about twenty-five years!
She loves to chew cardboard boxes.

Hahn's Macaw, Globo, stretches his wings.
He is the first baby Hahn's Macaw raised here!
Globo loves to sing.

 Our impish Slender-Billed Cockatoo, Gumby,
on 3/20/05. Gumby's favorite thing to say is,
"You smell like garlic!".
This bird will eat ANYTHING!

Our Bare-Eyed Cockatoo, Poopy, doing her
"Poopy Dance". She is happy because I just
took her infertile eggs away and she is free
of responsibility for another year!

At right, our Yellow-Naped Amazon, Lorita,
still looks and acts like a spring chicken at 26 + known years of age!

Mayo, our Blue and Gold Macaw, loves to sit outside on warm days in his favorite tree.

Iris, the Hyacinth Macaw, clowns around
in the warm afternoon of 3/20/05.

Peewee is a female Congo African Grey.

Beckett is a male Congo African Grey.

My husband's pet Congo African Grey, Togo, gives me her evil eye!
All of our pet Greys like my husband and do not like me!

Lorita loves to swing in the greenhouse!

Mayo loves to stretch and sun himself
in the warm greenhouse.

Iris loves to get wet!
