Smoke from
the inland wildfires blew into our area the night before on a
hot Santa Ana Wind and then the wind stopped. It felt like we
were baking in a smoke-filled hot oven. As we were near the coast
and at least two driving hours from the fires, it was difficult
to imagine how much worse it must be inland.

Oue pet Blue
& Gold Macaw, Mayo, was allowed a quick look- see as he had
been agitated and screaming earlier in the afternoon. I wanted
him to see what was going on outside so he would be happy to return
to the house quickly! Smoke in the air was thick.
An eerie
orange glow was cast on the back of our house as the sun set.
