It sure came close but we're all just fine and all of the babies in the nursery are fat and sassy!
We were ready to evacuate! A HUGE thank-you to the LA and Orange County firefighters and
the courageous helicopter pilots who saved us! Geez, I miss the rain!

We were packing birds in preparation for shipping when we heard there was a fire on the hill above us.
At first glance, it looked high on the slope, not burning our way. In a few minutes, it had burned down the entire hill!

A peahen ran back and forth across the road
in panic, trailing her three chicks behind her

Husband, Dave, assesses the danger, as the fire burns down the hill in front of our home.

Superwoman Perla, our evening hand-feeder,
arrives to save us!
