Greater Vasa Parrot
(Coracopsis vasa)

Sorry, we no longer breed birds.

This playful species is quite rare and unusual! It has a number of characteristics that set it apart from other parrots. It has one of the shortest incubation time of all psittacines.

The Vasa Parrot grows very rapidly and weans very fast. It is one of the most primitive of the parrot species, native to the island of Madagascar, near Africa.

Although it is not well-known, it makes a loving and intelligent pet. Vasa Parrots love to be held and petted and love attention. They are very devoted to their owners. The diet is the same as for other larger psittacines.
This species has quite a long tail.
